Hong Kong is one of the most vibrant cities in Asia. There are many opportunities to find TEFL Jobs in Hong Kong. It is also a great place to live and work.

Hong Kong is in a spectacular location. It is a panorama of islands, mountains, bays and the famous high-rise skyline. The city is very modern, with great transport links, and a high standard of living. It is a fascinating mix of eastern and western influences. The city separated by Victoria Harbour, and the ferry ride from the Kowloon side to the main CBD on Hong Kong island is spectacular. There is a lot for nature lovers on the outlying islands which are easily reached from the main ferry terminal on Hong Kong island. The geography of Hong Kong makes some areas feel surprisingly remote, yet you are never more than 40 minutes from the city centre.

Teachers looking for jobs in Hong Kong need to be well qualified. The minimum requirements are a degree and a recognised TEFL certification such as a CELTA or Trinity TESOL. With these qualifications in hand you can apply for an employment visa. Bear in mind it takes time for the paperwork to come through. It is best to apply for a job online from your home country first, then the school can help you out with the visa application process once you have secured a job.

Salaries are good and range from $1,800-$4,000 a month. The government jobs pay the most while jobs in private language schools are usually less handsomely paid. However living costs are equally high, and accommodation costs are some of the highest in the world. It is well worth checking if your school subsidises accommodation as this could save you $100s per month.
